Our Process
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to find the right support for yourself, your teen, or your family. From your first conversation with us, our goal is to make the process feel clear, thoughtful, and personalized.
We take the time to understand the whole picture, thoughtfully match each client with the therapist and services that best fit their needs, and create a plan that reflects their goals, strengths, and circumstances.
How it Works
-
A brief consultation provides an opportunity to discuss presenting concerns, answer questions, and determine whether Kincove is the right fit for your family.
-
Next, you meet with our Clinical Director for a more comprehensive understanding of the presenting concerns, family context, and goals for care.
Together, we begin to identify what kind of support may be most helpful, whether that includes individual therapy, family therapy, parent support, group therapy, neurofeedback, or another specialized service.
-
Based on what we learn, we thoughtfully match each client with the clinician best suited to their needs.
We consider clinical expertise, personality, relational fit, developmental stage, and treatment goals to create a strong foundation for therapy.
-
Before the intake session, forms are completed by either the client or a parent or caregiver, depending on age. During the 60-90 minute intake session, the therapist develops a comprehensive understanding of the client's experiences, strengths, relationships, family context, and goals.
This session establishes the foundation for treatment and the therapeutic relationship. If the therapist is not the right fit, another clinician can be recommended to ensure the best possible match.
-
Once treatment begins, care may include individual therapy, family therapy, parent sessions, group therapy, neurofeedback, or a combination of services. The plan is tailored to each client and adjusted over time as needs evolve.
Our clinicians remain attentive to progress, engagement, and what is happening both inside and outside of sessions.
-
Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure treatment continues to reflect the client's evolving needs and goals.
Whether collaborating with providers within Kincove or coordinating with outside professionals, we work to ensure care remains consistent, and aligned with each client's treatment goals.
What Makes Our Process Different
Every step of our process is designed to ensure clients receive the right care at the right time.
THOUGHTFUL THERAPIST MATCH
We consider clinical needs, personality, relational fit, and treatment goals when matching each client with a therapist.
WHOLE-FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
We support the teen while partnering with families to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and help caregivers stay appropriately involved throughout treatment.
INTEGRATED CARE
Treatment may include individual therapy, family therapy, parent support, group therapy, neurofeedback, or other wellness services depending on what is clinically appropriate.
ONGOING COLLABORATION AND CARE
Care is not static. As clients grow and their needs change, we regularly revisit goals, adjust treatment, and collaborate with families, schools, psychiatrists, physicians, and other providers when appropriate to ensure care continues to reflect what's most helpful.
We’re committed to ensuring every adolescent feels seen, supported, and empowered throughout each phase of their growth.
What Parents Can Expect
Parents are an important part of the process, especially when working with adolescents. At Kincove, we balance your child’s need for privacy and trust with your need to feel informed, supported, and involved. Our goal is to create a collaborative process where both adolescents and parents feel supported throughout treatment.
We meet regularly throughout treatment to discuss progress, provide guidance, and help create lasting changes in the way families communicate, connect, and support one another long after therapy ends.
