Supporting Adolescents, Young Adults & Families
There isn’t one type of support that works for everyone.
What someone needs can depend on their age, relationships, family dynamics, what they’re experiencing, and what has or hasn’t helped before.
Kincove offers therapy, parent and family support, groups, psychological assessment, and brain-based services for teens and young adults. Care can begin with one service and evolve over time as needs change.
-
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy gives teens and young adults a space to understand what they’re feeling, recognize patterns, and work through what may be getting in the way.
Therapy is tailored to the person and may focus on anxiety, relationships, identity, emotional regulation, school or work, family dynamics, life transitions, or increasing independence.
-
Family Therapy
When conflict keeps repeating or one person’s struggles begin affecting the whole family, it can be difficult to change the dynamic from inside it.
Family therapy helps families understand recurring patterns, communicate differently, and work through conflict together. Sessions may involve the whole family or different family members depending on what would be most helpful.
-
Group Therapy
Group therapy offers something individual therapy can’t: the opportunity to connect with peers, navigate relationships in real time, and hear perspectives that may challenge or expand your own.
Kincove groups combine therapist guidance, discussion, practical tools, and connection around a shared focus. Groups are offered for teens and young adults based on age and need.
-
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, brain-based approach that uses real-time brain activity to help train patterns associated with attention, emotional regulation, stress, and cognitive performance.
At Kincove, neurofeedback can be used on its own or alongside therapy depending on the person and what they’re working on.
-
Parent Coaching
Sometimes the child isn’t the only person who needs support. Parents may know what they want to change but feel unsure how to respond when conflict escalates, limits aren’t working, or their child continues to pull away.
Parent coaching helps parents understand what may be driving difficult patterns and find more constructive ways to respond to behavior, conflict, technology, school challenges, and growing independence.
-
Psychological Assessments
Psychological and neuropsychological assessment can help when something is getting in the way, but it isn’t clear why, or when there’s a specific question about ADHD, autism, learning differences, or executive functioning.
Our evaluations bring together testing, history, and the questions you’re looking to answer to clarify what may be going on and guide the support that best fits.
We're committed to helping adolescents and young adults build a foundation of insight, resilience, and strong relationships that continues to support them long after therapy ends.
What Sets Us Apart
-
Specialized in Adolescence & Young Adulthood
Teens and young adults are navigating rapid changes in identity, relationships, independence, school, work, and family dynamics. Our work is grounded in understanding these developmental stages and the challenges that can come with them, rather than applying an adult model of care to a younger person.
We also recognize that supporting a young person often means understanding the family and relationships around them, while still giving them space to develop a voice and sense of self that are their own.
-
Thoughtful Therapist Matching
The relationship with a therapist matters. We consider personality, communication style, clinical needs, and goals when matching each client with a therapist.
If the fit doesn’t feel right, clients can transition to another therapist within our team without having to start their search over.
-
Integrated, Individualized Care
We look at the whole picture, including emotions, behavior, relationships, family dynamics, identity, neurodivergence, environment, strengths, and everyday demands, rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation.
Care may include individual or family therapy, parent coaching, groups, psychological assessment, or neurofeedback. As needs change, the support can change with them.
-
Holistic Mind-Body Wellness
Mental health doesn’t exist separately from physical well-being. When relevant, we consider sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, sensory needs, and nervous system regulation as part of understanding what may be affecting someone.
We help clients build routines and habits that support how they feel and function in everyday life, without treating wellness as a substitute for therapy.
-
Mental Fitness for Lifelong Strength
Our work isn’t only about what feels difficult right now. We help young people build self-awareness, emotional regulation, communication, flexibility, and confidence they can draw on through relationships, transitions, and increasing independence.
The goal is for what they develop in therapy to continue serving them beyond it.
-
Community Beyond Therapy
We believe growth happens in relationships. Beyond individual therapy, we create opportunities for adolescents, young adults, families, and professionals to connect, learn, and build community through groups, workshops, and events.
