Psychological Assessments for Adolescents and Young Adults
Offered by Kaylin Golerkansky, PsyD
Neuropsychological testing provides an objective, evidence-based understanding of how someone thinks, learns, attends, and manages emotions. A clear diagnostic picture allows treatment, accommodations, and interventions to be targeted from the start, saving time, reducing trial-and-error, and helping each person get the right support sooner.

Is a Psychological Assessment Right for Your Child?
Many families come to assessment when they know something is getting in the way, but they are not yet sure what it is. Your child may be bright but struggling to follow through, emotionally reactive, avoidant, overwhelmed by school, socially confused, difficult to motivate, or not making the progress you expected in therapy.
A psychological or neuropsychological evaluation can help clarify whether challenges are related to ADHD, autism, anxiety, learning differences, executive functioning, emotional regulation, or a combination of factors. The goal is not simply to assign a diagnosis. The goal is to understand your child more fully so that treatment, school support, and parenting strategies can be better targeted.
What You’ll Receive
Each assessment is designed to give families a clear, practical roadmap. Depending on the evaluation, this may include diagnostic clarification, cognitive and academic testing, executive functioning assessment, emotional and behavioral screening, parent and child interviews, records review, and individualized recommendations.
Families receive a comprehensive written report and a feedback session to review the results in plain language. Recommendations may include school accommodations, therapy goals, parent strategies, executive functioning supports, referrals, and a treatment plan for next steps. When appropriate, families may also continue care with a Kincove therapist so the findings can be translated into ongoing support.
Why Assessment at Kincove
At Kincove, assessment is not just about testing. It is about helping families understand what is happening beneath the surface and what to do next.
Because Kincove specializes in adolescents, young adults, and families, our evaluations are grounded in a developmental understanding of this stage of life. We look at how attention, learning, mood, anxiety, identity, family dynamics, school demands, and executive functioning may be interacting. Our goal is to provide answers that feel clear, compassionate, and useful — not overwhelming or overly clinical.
For many families, the assessment becomes the starting point for a more focused treatment plan, better school support, and a clearer path forward.
